Frustration

The good news had filled him full of energy. He wanted to run, to jump, to sing, to scream – and he had, for a while. Until his legs turned to jelly and his shoulders filled with dull, aching pain and his stomach churned.

He collapsed in a heap on the sofa and tried to put on a film, but he couldn’t sit still. He commanded his body to jump for joy, but his body sent a flare of pain his way as a reminder of how exhausted it was. Grudgingly, he changed into his pajamas and climbed into bed.

But, of course, he couldn’t sleep.
