It was a brilliant idea, or at least the board of directors thought so. Jhilmil’s wife, Klara, was over the moon when she heard about her promotion, and of course her big raise.
“But I don’t understand,” said Klara over dinner (at the most expensive restaurant they’d ever eaten in). “How does adding charity boxes to the shops increase revenue?”
Jhilmil smiled as she swallowed a spoonful of soup. “Well, it turns out most people don’t look too deeply into where all that money actually goes. And if you make the descriptions of what is done with the money really, really vague…”
